Astronauts Wanted

SINE

It is out there, if you want to go see it. And now you can get ready. Over 30 Challenger Centers around the U.S. and soon the whole world enable visitors to experience the thrill and logistics of off-Earth exploration.

Starting from a wish to impart the passion and excitement that moved elementary teacher Christa McAuliffe to hitch a ride to heaven on the space shuttle Challenger, Challenger Centers feature space mission simulators. Participants who choose to report to Mission Control (modeled after Johnson Space Center, Houston) stay in contact with the outward bound using the same kind of equipment the pros use. Participants going to the Space Station experience a jarring ride on the shuttle and then, having arrived at Space Station simulator, go through the same kinds of exercises the astronauts do. More intense/lengthy/varied versions of the experience are available to school groups, summer camps, teacher workshops, even corporate groups wanting to develop teamwork problem-solving skills.

Centers are around the country. Reserve to participate. And your name doesn't even have to be Lindbergh  (lyrics).
