Life Goes on at Biosphere 2

AURA

Just a bit north of what’s been my home base for quite a while in Oracle is Biosphere 2.

When Biosphere 2 began, they made some effort portraying life inside as normal as a walk in the park. Even back in my hometown of Buffalo, an old friend called me about a newspaper article reporting that Sally Silverstone, British leader of the so-called “bionauts,” didn’t even rule out the possibility of sexual encounters amongst the crew members despite their each getting their own apartment inside.

Although the eventual marriage of Mission One crew members made the tabloids, the novelty wore off after awhile. Life went on. As Biosphere’s magazine reported in, what else, The Biosphere: “Since [the] premier issue of The Biosphere at the end of summer [‘94], many things have happened  (lyrics). Among them:

Mission Two crew members Charlotte Godfrey and Rodrigo Fernandez del Valle were married on September 19, two days after they exited Biosphere 2 after a six-month stay. They will be moving to the West Coast and furthering their education.…” I’ve thrown in a few links if you feel like going there.
