The River thanks us, a little

CORONADO

The play’s the thing, not statistics, so forgive us for not updating such info each and every year. So, take 2001 as a for instance, when over 22,000 people rafted the Colorado, including through Grand Canyon National Park, on average spending $1000 each. Your guide thanks you, your motel thanks you, etc etc. In fact, points along the river command 25% of visitation to the state, accounting for about 3% of total Arizona productivity. Clearly, recreational use of the River carries some weight.

AURA

Be that as it may, the current drought and continuing influx of population that must eat and drink suggests that now, rather than later, may be the time to catch a rapid on the River, a houseboat on half-baked/half-full Lake Mead, or a float through Glen Canyon. Mercifully, the old river banks will endure for sightseeing long after the water is gone.

Enjoy!
