First American – Russian joint space endeavor was in July 17-19, 1975 when Apollo and Soyuz docked in orbit. 1995 was the twentieth anniversary in Washington, where Russian captain Alexi Leonov met together again with American captain Tom Stafford, but on spaceship Earth. Very emotional, with Planetary Society, American Astronautical Society, National Space Club. Reaching out together.   (no lyrics).
