First American – Russian joint space venture was in 1975 when Apollo and Soyuz spacecraft docked in orbit.

To prepare, Americans orbited in Mir, the Russian space station, and Russians orbited in the American Shuttle. Before they could board the Shuttle, Russians had to train in Houston on American equipment, and while in the U.S. they had a one month tour of the country.

We were never in on that. But China is coming along now. I just don’t want to wait is why I’m here.
